Operating a business on the side during weekends means it’s important we enjoy our Saturday. We love the detailing aspect but a good company lunch is icing on the cake 🎂. Tacos and a cold cerveza always hits the spot!

I love selling. As much as I love detailing. Why? Because in my world selling is helping. I will never sell to convince you you need something. Not detailing related, but car related. As some of you may or may not know, auto racing (specifically Indycar and F1) is my sport of choice. Nothing in sports gets me more excited than open wheel racing. For years I’ve wanted somewhere to go watch F1, and that isn’t too easy to find in the USA. Well this season Land-Grant Brewing Company has opened their doors to support this niche community of die hard supporters. I was able to get out early this morning to watch the race in Barcelona and it did not disappoint! Delicious beer and F1 fans going crazy, what an experience! I highly recommend checking it out for a race!

Some cars live very hard lives before they fall into the hands of a caring owner. That was the case for our client who purchased this Mazda Miata last year. He didn’t like that the paint looked so worn and tired. But that doesn’t mean it’s the end. He inquired about what we could do instead of him having it painted. Are we the biggest detail shop in Columbus? No, there’s only 2 of us. Do we work out of a home garage? For now, yes. Do we currently work primarily only weekends? Yes. These are all attributes of a small side hustle. Underneath the skin we are so much more though. We continue to grow and the trust that’s been placed in us is what fuels us. Taking brand new cars and making them what they were meant to be. This brand new 2022 BMW X3 M Competition came from Cleveland and was very poorly prepped. It looked like it had salt wiped off with a drag dirty rag. Well we did what we do best, safely fixed the damage, and topped every exterior surface with a ceramic coating. The paint, the wheels, the windows. All protected for years to come.

When applying a ceramic coating you can actually leave what we call “high spots”. What’re those and why do you care?? They’re areas where more coating was left behind during the application process and not properly removed or leveled. This actually ends up appearing like an oil spill on your paint. After a ceramic coating is performed there’s a small window of time you can easily remove these before they’re completely bonded to the paint. Sometimes not visible under direct light, we check every vehicle using diffused light. You can see Troy here, in the dark, bouncing light off a whiteboard and onto the paint. This allows you to see things you just can’t see in direct light. Even though you may or may not notice a high spot we care enough to ensure they don’t exist. It’s the right thing to do.

Audi RS3 didn’t have many miles on it but already had some decent swirls and damage to the paint. We cleaned those up and the rest of the car via polishing, then applied out entry level coating. The results even with the entry level coating are just amazing!

March is booked solid and booking into mid April. All for clients getting their cars paint dialed in and ceramic coated. Took some time to do spring cleaning in the garage in preparation of all the work!

Brand new Kia getting prepped for ceramic coating. Being protected straight from the dealership will ensure the ultimate ease of maintenance and protection.

Had the pleasure to travel to Cincinnati to work on this BMW M235i we ceramic coated over a year ago. The owner takes meticulous care of it but a couple bird pop spots had quickly caused etching into the coating. The beauty of this being the paint underneath was protected. We were able to remove the coating in the etched locations, ensure a proper finish of the clear coat, and reapply coating for years of protection to come! Had the car not been coated we’d be removing clear coat in order to bring back the finish and that only shortens the life. This is a major benefit of a ceramic coating!

A clean engine bay not only looks great, it also makes it easier to find and diagnose any issues before they get worse. This is the heart of your vehicle, so keep it healthy!

“Can you detail in the cold?” This is a question often asked by our clients. The answer is YES! We have an insulated and vented garage and when needed will temporarily get the temperature up to something comfortable to ensure the best working conditions.

Our client came in for a Level 2 Exterior detail to remove the years of stubborn decontamination and sap that had fallen onto the paint. We were able to chemically remove the sap and even polished out some of the areas as a value added service to ensure the best results. We often go further than the package you pay for because we’re in the business of exceeding expectations and want to offer the best service you can get in the area. The client also stated a funky odor coming from the vents when the AC was on recirculation. We felt it best to replace the cabin air filter, which is often forgot about. This is just all part of doing business with us. We’re not happy until you are. ALSO, don’t forget we will be coming out with some absolutely 🔥 Black Friday offerings. Our client purchased their wife a gift card and she scheduled a Level 2 Exterior detail for her Acura RDX. The Level 2 Exterior involves our triple decontamination wash, including clay bar, to exfoliate the paint and get it to a truly clean state! Rubber floor liners are great for keeping soil off the carpet. However, they need cleaning too and are regularly pretty stubborn to get right. With a combination of the proper chemicals, tools, and most importantly attention to detail we get them back to like new finished with some protection. Regular cleaning every 3-6 months allows these to keep their deep black look and last longer!

Wow. This weekend was exhausting 🥵. But in a good way! The entire Auto Aesthetic team (Troy and Josh) spent 3 days in Ashland for an advanced paint correction and business training course! 🤔 Why would a couple of weekend detailers invest this much time away from family, money, and effort? Well just because we only do this on the weekends doesn’t mean we aren’t as serious as any full time business. We take our skills as serious as we can and are always looking to be better. This was the next step towards offering our amazing clients the best experience and product available. It was also a great time meeting other top level detailers from all over the country, finally putting names to faces.

Realized we never posted final still images of the Tundra. Here they are, please enjoy! We completed a two stage paint correction in order to remove a large majority of defects and restore gloss, removing the years of abuse making the paint look dull and faded. We then topped it with a high gloss ceramic coating to protect the paint for years, not months, making maintenance cleaning take minutes, not hours. This gives you your times back and the maintenance process more enjoyable.

24 hours of work later and the Tundra is complete 🙌

Some pics of the results after a two stage paint correction. After 16 hours we determined the best combination of pads and abrasives to maximize defect removal while minimizing clear coat removal and implemented the process. This can be a tricky balance as restoring the paint comes at the expense of a decrease in clear coat. With proper technique we were able to remove an amount of clear coat that will not lead to any concerns while removing defects and increasing gloss levels. The next step is to apply a ceramic coating. This provides a strong layer of protection to the clear coat lasting years, not months. The sun is a primary contributor to clear coat failure, but the coating will offer UV protection and act as a sacrificial layer. This way the coating deteriorates slowly over years, protecting the clear coat. Once a coating has expired it can simply be applied again. Whether that’s 3 years or 5 years later. This is just one of the ways we can offer you worry free maintenance of your vehicle!

Why do you think it’s called “detailing”? Yes, that is a q-tip in my hand…. I’m using it to get in the crevices of this trim during a restoration to bring the black back from a faded grey.

Some details really test you as a detailer 🥵. The Japanese black paint on this Toyota Tundra is one of those times. This isn’t the final result, we still have another stage of refinement polishing to do, but after the initial cut the defect removal is slappin.

It was a rainy 🌧 day but we’re still at it this weekend. Working on a two stage correction on a 13 year old black Toyota Tundra and boy are the results going to be insane.

Well I’m pretty annoyed with myself. I completely forgot to take “After” photos of the Subaru Outback that received our Level 2 Interior and Exterior detail. I did manage to take this video of a 50/50 during the pet fur removal. We sure do love our pets but they don’t make it easy to clean!
